Google Earth
Google Earth
The easiest way to create anaglyph is with Google Earth. You just have to prepare something really fancy. Then have to make two snapshots – for left and for right viewpoint respectively and put them in the plug-in.
Let’s explain the steps one by one.
-
Open Google Earth. If you don’t have it – download and install from http://earth.google.com
-
Select an interesting place to show. I select Alcatraz Island (near San Francisco).

-
In Layers uncheck everything except 3D Buildings and Terrain. Use zoom, arrows and Shift + Down to find an interesting perspective

-
Now press Ctrl + Alt + B to hide sidebar and press Ctrl + Alt + S to save the Left screenshot. Name it (an example) Alcatraz_L.PNG
-
The next step is VERY important. Drag and drop the Google Earth to left on about 2-3 cm. The movement has to be strictly horizontal. Press again Ctrl + Alt + S and name the file Alcatraz_R.PNG
-
That’s it! You have the desired two pictures! Now go to the Instructions and create an anaglyph.
